Getting Started | Treatment Approach

Often times folks feel like they have talked about something over and over again with out any resolve. Or we find ourselves in situations where our logical brains know something, however when we are triggered another part of self shows up. We might feel unable to control ourselves, our thoughts or behaviors and are acting in a way that seems not like ourselves. If you are reading this and share in that experience then you are in the right place.

Many people who experience what you just read often find their way to me, because the work that needs to be done is deeper. It is work that has not been effectively navigated with traditional talk therapy, trying to change your mindset or just thinking about it differently has not helped overall. It’s not because you have failed, it’s because those forms of therapy or treatment are not accessing and healing the parts of self that are wounded, hurt or struggling.

Because the work is deeper then just talking about it, I was drawn to EMDR as my primary modality for therapy. I blend both EMDR and a attachment framework to support clients in working through and moving past significant life events, negative beliefs systems, patterns and/or intrusive symptoms that impact day to day life. Understanding your past, important relationships and human development help bring a understanding of what has shaped us, why we respond the way that we do and how we see and experience the world around us.

My work is driven by the belief that each person has what they need to heal and grow. When we remove blocks and allow the mind and body’s natural process to take place, transformation is possible.

Treatment is client specific, as each person moves at their own pace. I work with clients to identify current life struggles, negative belief systems, past life events, attachment ruptures or anything else contributing to current difficulties. I take time with clients to identify strengths and resources, practice skills to aid in emotional regulation so you feel confident moving and working through the difficult stuff.

Cultivating a safe and comfortable place is essential in the therapeutic relationship, a place where Clients can come as they are. I hope to create a space where I can support clients in exploring, growing and forging new pathways. I want clients to walk away from sessions feeling heard, validated, seen and sometimes lovingly challenged. The therapeutic relationship is relationship in itself and I believe it has an impact on treatment outcome.

I spend time getting to know my clients, understanding your history and what is going on for you as well as providing you with tools to increase success in managing the difficult things. Once we feel ready I use a combination of Flash, EMDR and attachment work to support clients in transformational change.

As we let go of what we have been holding on to we can then experience transformational change, it is experienced as non-reactive around things that once were triggering, behaviors, emotions, thoughts and body sensations disappear all with effortless permanence.
